Pain Management
Chronic pain can have various underlying causes, including strains to muscles, sprains affecting the ligaments, arthritis or injury affecting the joints, and disease. It is imperative that you visit a qualified physician for proper diagnosis of the cause of your pain and the extent of your injury or condition. With proper diagnosis, the most effective options for treatment can be discussed and undertaken.
Located at the Ohio Orthopedic Center of Excellence are several physicians board certified in physical medicine (physiatry) and the treatment of chronic pain. Physical medicine and rehabilitation services available at the Center include pain management blocks and electro-diagnostic testing. Depending on the nature of the condition or injury, other surgical and non-surgical treatments are available at the Center.
Please note: The sudden onset of severe pain of any kind merits immediate emergency treatment. If you have pain in the upper back with chest pain that is crushing or squeezing, feels like a heavy weight on the chest or occurs with any other symptoms of a heart attack (sweating, shortness of breath, nausea or vomiting, pain spreading to the back, neck, jaw, shoulder or arm, a fast or irregular pulse or fever), you may be experiencing a heart attack. In this situation, seek immediate emergency treatment.
Also of immediate concern is severe back pain that is not from any known injury, or a possible spinal injury immediately following a severe trauma to the back. In this situation, seek immediate emergency treatment.
